Rainy Saturday

>> Saturday, February 28, 2009

We need the rain but with us being sick for such a long time we are going stir crazy around here today! I am hoping that we get to hook up later with some family who live south of us but for now it is puzzles, dress up, coloring, and crazy web cam pictures :)

Muwah Daddy!

Yes, it is noon and we are still in our pajamas :) The girls are going down for a nap though and like I said we have been playing dress up - don't judge us :)

36.5

>> Sunday, February 22, 2009

Nope, not some sort of marathon. Heck, I don't even know what those numbers mean but I see them on stickers on people's cars and figure they must do something like that :) That is how many weeks I am pregnant and I am totally feeling every single one of those days/weeks today. Normally I get little spurts of energy, not today. The girls were sleeping and I was out with Matt and ended up falling asleep on the couch - I am getting old I know that is what it is. There are just not enough hours in a day for me right now b/c I need extra so that I can take breaks. Drywall project almost done - yeah! There are so many things that we need to do to welcome new babe home but the drywall project that I have been staring at for 4 months definitely topped my list. Piper is feeling better but Violet is still under the weather and crabby. I am still sick :( but hopefully this cough/sinus thing that I have left will make a departure early this week. We did manage to clean the playroom - again - and get rid of some things. The girls just get sidetracked by toys normally and aren't the best helpers. Today they couldn't get enough of their jewelry.

Tried for the shot of the girls and I but that didn't work out due to a snap happy husband - most of the photos were blurry b/c he did not wait until the camera could catch up and refocus - *shaking head* - do you know how hard it is to get those girls to sit still for even 5 minutes?

Oh, the girl's room update. Piper calls Matt in every night and that wakes up Violet so she comes and sleeps with me. At least I am off that uncomfortable twin bed - I feel for you Matt.

Her eye is crying - again!

>> Saturday, February 21, 2009

It might be time to go back and see our doctor b/c Violet has been having a crying eye for about a month. Normally it just tears but sometimes it is as if she has a cold in her eye and it is sort of goopy. From the picture you can tell it is just tearing right now but she came to me this morning and told me that her eye was crying and so was her babies. I am afraid she might have got whatever Piper and I had last week, will it end with us or will Matt get it?

After 3 days of being under the weather you can imagine what our home looked like. 4 dogs, 2 kiddos, and me - we can make a mess now :) This morning I was picking up a few rooms before I decided to kick back again b/c I am already tired and while I was doing this the girls were playing in the playroom. Out comes my little babywearer with "Lilo" her favorite Christmas doll. I haven't seen her touch this sling in probably 3 months but her and her babe were going to CVS - like mother like daughter.

Ok, I have to get motivated to clean some more and then errands this afternoon after naps - and of course I will be stalking the mailman to see if my diapers have come :)

Randomness

>> Friday, February 20, 2009

I've been sick, flu sick. Piper was sick with me yesterday, we are a pathetic combo :) My post today isn't really about anything in particular but it what has been going on for the past few days.

This past Sunday after a birthday party that we went to we saw this in the sky.

Matt and I made bets on where it was - we were both wrong :) The fire department was doing a controlled burn on an old McDonald's that they are replacing. Can you believe how close they are allowing people to stand? We opened the windows from the opposite side of the street and the heat that we felt way over there was incredible, I can't imagine standing right next to it!

I have a really bad addiction to wool. I have tried my hand at knitting several times but it never turns out very good. We have tons of girlie wool but not a bunch of the gender neutral stuff - so here is what has come to live with us this week. The monster booty are the babe's "going home" outfit whether it is a boy or girl. I thought that the dipes that I had bought would come in today but I guess I will have to wait for them until tomorrow - something to look forward to :)

And finally, the runny nose on the baby tells me that I have something else to look forward to this weekend. I just can't get over how Violet has the EXACT SAME eyebrows as her Daddy. It is seriously crazy! If he will let me get a close up of him in the near future I will show the comparison shot.

MOM

>> Monday, February 16, 2009

Ok, today we were coloring and Piper showed me this picture. I asked her if it was Lily, our cat, and she said "No mama, it is you b/c you have green eyes". I am not quite sure what I am growing out of the side of me but it is going in a frame in our bedroom b/c I thought it was pretty darn cool that she decided to draw me - Daddy is a total favorite here :)

Speaking of bedrooms, we are going to try and get those girls to stay in their room by themselves tonight. I have tried to psych them up for it all day today. Wish us luck. I am not sure if it was reflux, my sore back, the babe that has it's nights and days confused (and it isn't even here yet), or Violet's doll that kept hitting me but last night I was up for seriously 3 hours. I am going to sleep like a rock tonight *fingers crossed*.

Happy Valentine's Day!

>> Saturday, February 14, 2009

We woke up to a very dreary day and I was sure that they were going to cancel a little Fairy Festival that I had planned to take the girls to. We instead left and ran errands but now after checking they did have it b/c it cleared up eventually - sorry babies :(

Yesterday we got a special delivery from Grandma and Grandpa in Ohio, they sent the girls some Valentine's Day treats. Both of them wanted to sleep with their new spiders last night and today we played with the pipe cleaner toys.

I hope that everyone enjoyed their Valentine's Day as much as we have!

Sleeping Beauty

>> Friday, February 13, 2009

We actually had one of those mornings. It was the kind of morning where the girls fought over just about everything that they touched. Violet wanted what Piper had and if Piper did decide to give in and let her play with *insert whatever here* Violet would then want what Piper picked up next. It was fight after fight after fight. Even when we went outside this morning they fought over which swing they wanted to be on - ugh! Let's just say they were both in bed for naps by 11:30 and as exhausted as they made me I laid down too. Feeling better after waking up I brought them down to a little boutique by us where Sleeping Beauty was making an appearance. They were doing face painting, decorating cupcakes, and then of course the princess :) Violet wanted no part of Sleeping Beauty and Piper was super shy but she still managed to stand next to her for a minute :)

Love is in the air

>> Thursday, February 12, 2009

This morning the girls and I headed to my ob appointment - all is good and babes head is down (for now anyway). I am loving that the past few doctors haven't said anything about my weight gain, it is such a bummer when someone tells you that you are gaining too much. I have been seeing so many baby pictures lately that I am getting so excited to meet our new little one and love on him/her. It is crazy how you carry this little human inside of you for 9.5 months and don't know them.

We are having such a beautiful week in our area and the kids and I have been out playing every day! I just love this pre-spring warm weather. Next week is supposed to cool down so we just need to get out there and enjoy! These pictures were taken at a little house that I like to go to b/c there are so many places to walk around to. The girls are showing the love for each other today. I hope that it will continue after they wake up from their naps :) Chick-fil-A tonight after ballet will seal the deal I am sure.

Just us girls

>> Monday, February 9, 2009

Back when I had Piper a friend of mine told me that the pictures that I was taking of her were really cute but I should hand the camera over and also be in front of it so that I could be in a few with Piper too. Thank you Julie, after 3 years, another daughter, and a new one coming next month I might actually try to start listening. Through a friend I found another mama's blog and she takes a picture of her and her kids every week, now I am not sure that I can keep up with that pace but I will try monthly at least. Here is our first :)

Now this is more like it :)

>> Sunday, February 8, 2009

I am not a cold weather girl. I grew up in the midwest and finally had enough and moved to the balmy state of CA then met Matt and moved to the semi-balmy state of NC. I can only say semi b/c some days it is really cold here for me :) That would not be the case today though, it should hit 70 soon if it is not already there. If you read my post on Friday I was going to talk hubs into going to the zoo, Piper actually decided she would rather stay here today and play so that is what we did this morning. They are down for naps after a good morning outside and then this afternoon I am taking them to a little art school to make special valentines for their daddy - while he stays here and works on his honey do list.

The sun felt so good on our faces - I can't wait until spring is officially here!

There was a time when I thought that Piper would never learn her letters. She had absolutely no interest in it. I would sit and *try* to make it seem fun but she wanted no part of that. The little girl that I watch got her into art and drawing so she much prefers to make pictures than learn things like letters and numbers. Well, something clicked in her head during all that talking that I thought was going in one ear and out the other b/c not only does she know her letters she can write them too - like I said who knew she was listening b/c it didn't appear that she was :) Now she wants to write everything and wants me to spell all sorts of words for her so that she can write them. Here is a sampling of her morning - Violet is backwards but at the top, then comes daddy, Piper is in there somewhere but then she tried to cram 2 words too close together and I can't remember what they are now :) Anyway, I just had to brag on my girl for a minute b/c I am pretty proud of her.

Heartbroken

>> Saturday, February 7, 2009

That would have described Violet this morning when she was trying to find her "purple baby" that Santa brought her. How sad is it that after not finding it right away I grabbed my camera and took her picture :) Poor Violet. We found the baby though and life is good again. Another mama actually gave me the idea to do these in b&w and by looking at her conversion I *tried* to make my meager attempt at it too. Practice, practice, practice - thank you Sam for my new software :)

It's Friday

>> Friday, February 6, 2009

I feel like it has been quite a week around here. I am not sure that anything really stands out as to what we did that was overwhelming but today I curled up in bed with the girls for their nap b/c I was exhausted! Earlier this week I showed pictures of snow (laughable but one of the reasons I agreed to move here) and talked of cold temperatures - it was 12 the other night :) Well, tomorrow and Sunday will be mid 60's so I am trying to plan 1 more family getaway even though we have sooo much left to do before babe #3 comes. We won't be able to just pack up our little ones and ride to the zoo on a whim for quite some time so I am working on Matt to make this happen :) All I really have to do is talk to the girls about it and they will beg him relentlessly and then he will give in b/c he is a softy when it comes to them. How could you say no to a face like this?

Writing on the wall

>> Thursday, February 5, 2009

We got these bath crayons by Alex about a year ago from a company that I was testing products for. After 1 bath I put them up b/c the kids just weren't ready for them or maybe I wasn't ready to do the clean up afterwards :) Well, tonight I thought that they might like to get a little creative and since it was Matt giving baths and not me I went ahead and got them out again *insert evil laugh here*. The girls actually had a ball with them and they aren't THAT hard to clean off - Piper wrote her name but wouldn't look at me for a picture, ah 3 year olds. The very dark, very thick purple was Violet's artwork - scribbles but art non the less :)

Now, off to bed b/c I am exhausted today!

Watch Out!

>> Monday, February 2, 2009

Seriously, a 2 year old plus baseball equals DUCK! This post will be short and sweet b/c my head has been hurting since yesterday and I honestly do not see it letting up. We were playing around outside yesterday letting the girls toss us some balls. Piper is pretty good at it but Violet will aim for your head :)

I love the stickers I have seen around with President Obama and while visiting another blog saw that I could too make one of the head of our house - without further ado...

Our 1st Annual Super Bowl Party

>> Sunday, February 1, 2009

I told Piper yesterday that we were going to have a party tonight for the Super Bowl and since telling her that she has referred to our party as a "bowl" party - thus the bowls :) as you can see dress was casual and optional. We feasted on a chicken and Redneck fries. They are my favorite - fries with pork bbq, cheese, and ranch dressing, yum yum! Now, off to watch more commercials.

Off to ride

I am pretty excited for Matt today because he is doing something that he has always enjoyed but for the last few years has not had time to do - mountain biking. We used to do it together before babes and I haven't done it since, that was probably the last time that he went too :) Anyway, it is a nice day here and he is joining some guys that he works with and going. Have I mentioned that he so doesn't like it when I take his picture but he indulged me today.

Guess what? I won $20 during the Bloggy Giveaway!! Woot! Woot! Thank you so much Christy whose blog is The Davis Family. I am going to save it for the perfect "going home" outfit for babe #3 - I am so psyched!
