Wordful Wednesday - My Archenemy

>> Wednesday, February 10, 2010

I do not claim to be a superhero but I do have my own archenemy here at the zoo. They have bugged me for years now but normally in the spring and summer months. Not any more though. They live here now. I think that our home might be located on the biggest (little black) ant hill known to man. It has been COLD this winter so you would think they would be dead but no, they come out when I least expect them! It started right before Violet's birthday in December and they keep coming! Last night I opened up my dishwasher to load it with supper dishes and there they were in there! Seriously there were like 100 of them! I got out my trusty Windex and killed them all but they keep coming back! Ugh! We have a bug guy and I have been dreading the phone call to him b/c he comes to my house and talks bugs. Seriously, there is more to life than bugs. He will tell me stories about disgusting homes he has been in with roaches, bed bugs, and spiders. Maybe I should just get a Windex holster so I will always be prepared when I spot one (or 50). Yuck, yuck, yuck!

and b/c I don't want the only picture in my post to be of my enemy :)

Guess Who's Lucky?

>> Tuesday, February 9, 2010

I knew when I saw the tote hanging in Piper's cubby at school that she was going to be on cloud 9 these past 2 days. There sat a ladybug tote and inside was Lucky the Ladybug. She has been talking about this ladybug since her teachers introduced her to the class after Christmas break. The disappointment that Piper had in her face when she told me that another child got to take Lucky home with him/her broke my heart. But there was to be no disappointment Monday b/c Lucky was taking a trip to the Zoo.

Immediately Piper dressed Lucky up in a ballerina outfit b/c later that afternoon we would be going to ballet class. Last night Piper let Lucky sleep at the foot of her bed right next to Kit. Today we went to a cookie decorating playdate and although Lucky stayed in my bag for fear of getting icing on her or more horribly her getting left there I still think she had a fun time :) This afternoon Lucky even played our ladybug game and Yahtzee with us.

Violet even found another ladybug in the stuffed animal bin. Guess what she named her? Lucky.

I heart faces - Some Sugar

Our girls are not stingy with their affection. They are the kids that will come up and just give us a hug or kiss without having to beg. Wouldn't that be awesome if it continued forever? Even when they are super cool teenagers? I can hope right?

Mexican Anyone?

>> Sunday, February 7, 2010

We had to run to Lowe's Home Improvement to gather a few things to finish up Matt's to do list. Life is going to become pretty busy around here soon so I would love to have mirrors hung and front doors fixed beforehand.

I told the girls that we were going to be leaving and they immediately went into their rooms to accessorize. Mind you, their mama barely wears any jewelry and Piper reminds me to put on my engagement ring most days or I would forget. How did I end up with girlie girls again? If you look really close you can see that they are wearing chicken earrings. How lucky was I to find 2 pair that are almost identical? Who says diamonds are a girl's best friend? Ask these 2 and they would say pearls :)

Everyone in our family enjoys mexican food, even Ruby! After Lowe's we stopped at our favorite mexican restaurant where the girls devoured their quesadillas, rice, and refried beans. Matt got some beans on his fork and gave them to Ruby. Bebe was like a little bird opening her mouth for more & more! Sundays they give you these fried cinnamon, chocolate, honey & whipped cream things that the whole family loves! What a wonderful day!

You know what today is? It is our 2nd Annual Super "Bowl" Party! Our first party was such a huge success we decided to make it a ritual around here. That is unless we get really hip one year and get invited to a real party. This year we are feasting on dip, nuggets, & cookies. Who is in the Super Bowl again lol :)
