Bye bye flu bug (hopefully)

>> Saturday, May 31, 2008

At least everyone is starting to feel better after the bug that has gone through the house. Talking to Matt today though I think that it is his turn so he might be laying around a lot tomorrow - that is ok though b/c rain is in the forecast so it might be nice to have a lazy movie day for us all. We ended up bringing just the twin mattress upstairs and putting that next to the wall and then shoving the king up against it. Piper has her own space still but is right by us which I like especially with her being ill and also her figuring out that she needs to go potty sometimes in the middle of the night too :)

We hit the farmer's market this morning and got some yummy organic strawberries from a local farm that I *heart*! We also got some onions b/c I could eat them like apples lately, I am sure that my husband enjoys my breath but hey he isn't home much and the girls don't care (yet) :) After that we went to CVS - whee!! I got 2 birthday cards, a sympathy card, toothpaste, tums quick pak, and lotion for $3.30 out of pocket!! Want to know how I did it? Check out the button in my sidebar - the ladies and gents on A Full Cup are genius and by reading up I have learned how to also score some bargains - yeah me!

Off to play with the girlies and then put them down for their naps so that I can clean the house before Matt gets home - have a great weekend!

Relay for Life

>> Friday, May 30, 2008

Last year Piper's Grandpa Doug had to have one of his kidneys removed because it had cancer in it. We have not had this disease be so close to home before. Thankfully Grandpa Doug is doing well with his remaining kidney and will even make it down here for Piper's birthday this year.

I think that it is important for all of us to give back if we are able. Life has blessed us and we try to give back not just at events such as Relay for Life but also in everyday life and we are trying to teach the girls to follow our lead. Matt and I decided it would be neat for Piper to do the Kids Walk honoring her Grandpa who is kicking cancer's butt! Unfortunately the girls and I have been sick all week and today was our first outing so Piper actually rode in the stroller rather than walk - there's always next year. Since Piper is only 2 I tried to think of imaginative ways to get some donations. Finally I came up with auctioning off a magnet on a local mom's site that I belong to as they are currently not being sold. About 1/2 way through the auction a super sweet mama offered me up her magnet to also auction off and we ended up with one going for $30 and the other $27 (Thank you so much Dawn and Erin!!) We hope to make this a family tradition whether we end up joining one of the local teams or just keep on being solo it doesn't matter, what matters is finally finding that cure so generations to come won't know cancer as we do. Piper was so excited because Megan even joined us walking - it was really really hot :)

Here are some photo's from tonight (thanks to Megan!!).

We are raising some classy girls down here - don't judge us :)

Piper even won the cake walk - yeah Piper!!

So much for that

Piper made it on the crib mattress for maybe 4 hours on Sunday night and then came to bed with us - want to say crowded? Last night Matt just gave up when she came to our bed and put pillows all around the mattress and slept down there - poor Daddy :) Tonight we will move the twin bed back upstairs but still give her the option if she wants to try sleeping on her own it will just be more comfortable for Matt when he gets kicked out of the big bed - again, poor Daddy :)

Happy Memorial Day!

>> Sunday, May 25, 2008

I realize that Memorial Day isn't technically until tomorrow but I have pictures to share today. We put up a our little pool on the deck for the girls to play in - it was almost 3 hours of water fun :) Sorry, picture heavy today. Violet hasn't been feeling the best lately so it was really nice to see her having such a good time.

Did I mention the DeLuxe Bubble Gum Ice Cream???

And here is our little dare devil - Matt hasn't seen these yet :)

There may or may not be really exciting news at the zoo tomorrow - well good news for Matt since he might get to sleep in his bed again. Piper has taken a liking to her crib mattress (that she has NEVER used) and even slept there today for her nap! I will update in the morning...

Getting Better?

>> Thursday, May 22, 2008

In February I posted about a Lunar Eclipse and I knew that the shot was pretty bad but I wanted something to remember that night by. A few days ago we had a full moon so I decided to drag the tripod outside and try to get the moon again. Personally I think that the result is far better but that is only the eye of the beholder perhaps.

The case of the missing lovey

>> Tuesday, May 20, 2008

I wasn't able to take the girls for a walk yesterday b/c we were busy doing other things so last night after we got back from the grocery store and I remembered we had a movie due back I thought it would be a good idea to walk to the movie store. It was about 6:50 pm when we left the house which is just about the girl's bedtime so I decided to give Violet her blanket to take with us. What was I thinking? We returned the movie and visited a new ice cream shop that just opened. Just when we sat down to eat I noticed the missing blanket - panic hit b/c all I saw was a fussy babe all night long without her lovey. We retraced our tracks but found nothing. Sigh. By the time I put the girls down it was after 9 so they fell right to sleep and then I got back up to make signs. Matt found this very humorous that I would make a sign that said "lost purple blanket xxx-xxx-xxxx thanks" He hung them at every main intersection for me though (thank you thank you thank you). Last night we had a troubled babe so today I was going to try and replace the blanket but now I don't have to! That's right, our signs worked and a very nice lady called today telling me that they found our blanket last night and brought it into their home which is why we couldn't find it! Yeah!

This summer is going to be fun!!

>> Tuesday, May 13, 2008

We turned on our irrigation system the other day to the delight of our girls. We were in a horrible drought last year so they didn't run and we won't run them too much this year either but when we do those girlies will be out there playing for sure! It is a child's dream - multiple sprinklers to run through!

Mother's Day

>> Monday, May 12, 2008

So Mother's Day is over and I hope that all of the mama's that read my blog had a good one. Here are the girls from yesterday.

We had breakfast at Bob Evans and then ran some errands. While the girls and Matt slept I snuck out and hit Goodwill and Lowe's for some more flowers. Violet is cutting all 4 of her pointy teeth (fangs ??) and has been up and nursing all night long AGAIN! I wonder if that baby will ever sleep through the night, come on baby - mama's tired!

It's funny how I don't notice that we have spider webs on our roses (is that why they are so thin?) until I see a picture of them. How could I miss that when I am watering?

Pigtails

>> Thursday, May 1, 2008

Lately Piper has been asking for me to put pigtails in her hair. I finally asked her why she wanted them so often and she told me that it was because "Daddy likes them". Today she asked for pigtails for herself and for baby Violet - aren't they SWEET?(!!)
