Fishy Pool

>> Saturday, June 21, 2008

Piper tells almost everyone she sees about her fishy pool, she likes it that much. Violet decided that she enjoyed it very much too and was being quite the little daredevil about getting her face/head wet. The weather is much cooler than it has been in the past few weeks so we are getting outside again. The girls and I have resumed our walks in the mornings. Summer is my favorite time of year!

Our Piper dribbling water out of her mouth ON PURPOSE! Again, don't judge us :)

TMBG

Yesterday we rode the train into the city to see They Might Be Giants.

We all totally enjoyed the concert but unfortunately had to sit in the balcony b/c we got there a little after everyone else. The theater was still small enough that it felt we were very close though.

And we made the ride back to the van - as you can see Piper was in a better mood and would actually look at the camera :)

Such a fun day! We even got to sit near our friends Rachel, Pat, and their kiddos Nathan and Vivian.

Happy Father's Day

>> Sunday, June 15, 2008

Piper loves her Daddy, in fact I think that she prefers him to me a lot of time but has to put up with me b/c I am home with her the most :) This past year Matt has taken her to their weekly date night at Rolly Pollies and then McD's afterwards, it was so much fun for the 2 of them b/c he works so much and they got that personal time together. One of these days I think that Violet will be the same way as Piper but for now she is pretty attached to her mama. It makes me smile though when I see her grab one of her books and head over to sit on her Daddy's lap and have him read it to her. You know Matt makes time to do it even if it is before work in the morning and he is running late. Since having Piper we have been making photo frames of the girls each year for their Daddy's desk at work. This year was tough to get those girls to cooperate - sheesh! Check out the 3rd picture on Piper's and see the drama that a 2 (almost 3) year old can have. Violet was only happy sitting in that tree thus 2 shots b/c they were the only ones that turned out :) Girls!

We are going to make pancakes and real bacon (woo hoo) for breakfast and then this afternoon are heading to a free concert in our area - I hope that Matt enjoys the present that Piper picked out for him, I will post pictures if he puts it on :) I want to wish all the Dad's and Grandpa's out there a very Happy Father's Day - I hope that you all enjoy your day very much!

Ear Infection - Take 2

>> Saturday, June 7, 2008

Last December Piper had one ear infection after another - 4 total. They sent us to ENT but the final medicine did the trick and she was infection free - until Wednesday night. Our poor little babe woke up screaming Wednesday night telling us that her ear hurt, that is just plain heart breaking when there is nothing that you can do for her. Thursday we took her in and sure enough she had another one. I pray that this medicine takes care of it and we don't have to go through 3 more before we are done. Thankfully though the medicine is making her feel a little better, she is really clingy but she still can manage a smile here and there :)

Jessie, Jessie, quite contrary how does your garden grow? (Matt calls me contrary all the time - I think it is out of love??) We have a small garden but plenty for us to eat this summer and probably give some away too. I picked my first jalapeno yesterday for the guacamole that I made to go with dinner. No tomatoes yet but squash are a coming! Bummed about the red peppers b/c they seem to be stunted and I am not sure but I think that something is eating my squash leaves! I have to go and find out some natural ways to take care of them.

The new addition

>> Friday, June 6, 2008

Let's hope that we don't screw this up:) We have heard that salt water tanks are hard work but we decided to buy a little used tank and see what creatures we could have live in our family room. Yesterday we got a few new pieces of live rock and some sand. So far we only have the 2 crabs in there and they came with the tank, I thought that we had killed them but it appears crabs are quite hearty little things. The rock has some pretty red sponge and purple coral on them - it is neat to watch b/c there is just so much alive in there. We are hoping to get our "clean up" crew (shrimp, crabs, snails, and maybe a cucumber) Sunday. The girls are having a ball so far with it and that makes the work so worth it.
